Cognate Ringmod

Cognate Ringmod - ring modulation at its most playful - and most controlled.

Stars falling. Doom bells tolling. Metallic clangs, sci-fi, robots and aliens. EDM growls.

Also tremolo, pseudo-phasing and a surprisingly fat octaver effect. Ringmod nails all these with one easy-to-use block.

About Cognate Ringmod

At its core, Hologram is a classic ringmod: a carrier oscillator (sine, triangle, square, or sawtooth) multiplied against your signal, with drive to push it into rougher territory. But the Sidebands control opens it up - morph continuously between lower sideband frequency shifting, full ring modulation, and upper sideband, dialling in everything from subtle pitch displacement to full metallic clang.

The envelope section is where it gets expressive. Shape the envelope response from slow and smooth to fast and zappy, and use Env Amount to set how far - and in which direction - your playing pushes the carrier frequency. Hit harder for more effect, or let it breathe. Tweak the sound further with a single-control LFO for sine or sample & hold modulation.

Tracking locks the carrier to your bass's pitch, with Interval setting the harmonic relationship anywhere from an octave down to three octaves up. Blend and Level keep you in control of how far over the edge you go.
